Hydraulic Anchor

The Hydraulic anchor is a button-type hold-down device that is actuated by a differential pressure between the tubing and annulus. The button can be expanded and retracted by differential pressure. It is mainly used to anchor the tubing string and prevent the tubing string movement caused by changes in temperature, pressure, load and torque during completion operation.

There are two types of button, one is wicker and the other is carbide, which are respectively used for different casings grades.

The Hydraulic Anchor incorporates a variety of unique features, some of which include the following: A "high expansion/body" outer diameter ratio, which facilitates gripping inside large inner diameters below small restrictions. An un-interrupted through bore, allowing drop balls to pass through the tool with the added benefit of reducing flow turbulence. The blades are fully retained prior to flowing through the tool and are pulled back into the body when flow stops.
